This Service is designed to help you access medical advice quickly and easily for a range of minor illnesses.
Appointments will be released at 8am on the day of booking.
The clinics will be run by a Nurse Specialist who can offer advice and prescribe treatment where appropriate.
The Following conditions can be seen in the clinic
UPPER RESPIRATORY CONDITIONS
Coughs, colds, fever, flu-like symptoms, sore throat, sinusitis, tonsillitis, earache, hay fever, asthma exacerbations, COPD
MUSCULOSKELETAL CONDITIONS
Minor injuries, back pain, sprains, neck pain
WOMENS HEALTH
Thrush, vaginal discharge, emergency contraception, mastitis, heavy menstrual bleeding
UROLOGICAL CONDITIONS
Urine infection, balanitis (sore penis)
DERMATOLOGICAL CONDITIONS
Eczema, skin rash, impetigo/ skin infection, cellulitis, sunburn, insect bites and stings, boils, nappy rash, in-growing toenail, acne
GASTROINTESTINAL CONDITIONS
Constipation, haemorrhoids, thread worms
EYE CONDITIONS- including conjunctivitis, stye
DIARRHOEA/VOMITTING
The Nurse will triage you via a telephone call and assess whether treatment/ advice can be given over the telephone without you coming into the surgery and potentially infection other people.
There are some urgent conditions which are excluded from the Minor Illness Clinic as they will require a doctor’s opinion
- Children under 1 year of age
- Chest pain or difficulty breathing
- Convulsions
- Coughing/vomiting blood
- Sudden loss of sight
- Bleeding profusely from any orifice
- Patients requiring sick notes
- Women who are pregnant
- Repeat Prescriptions
- Problems that are not the first episode
- Chronic conditions
- Breast lump
- Abdominal pain
